Sorry. I’m nervous.
Welcome to Antagonism with Kyle Prue. This is sort of the inner sanctum of my following… A place where only my most parasocial homies can ruminate and plot with me. It’ll be an active dialogue (that I will completely monopolize.) But I truly can’t wait to hear what you think about what I say.
This newsletter/audio recording/parenting blog/active descent into dementia is my first foray into the whole “personal vulnerability” thing. I hope you’ll be gentle with me. And yes, you heard correctly. I will be recording every installment. Does that technically make this a podcast, as well? I hope not. I’m just barely dodging the “every white guy in Los Angeles” allegations as it is. However I’m not deluded. I know why the majority of you sickos are here. (To drool over my infinitesimal lisp.)
I plan to use this Substack as a personal experiment.
1. I’d like to see if I can keep myself from lying on the internet.
And 2. I’d like to create something that mirrors the actual feeling of getting to know someone. I’ve resisted being “personal” on the internet because it all just felt TOO MUCH TOO FAST. Every podcast now is “have a Liquid Death and tell us about that thing you never got better from.” Whatever happened to foreplay? (Do not DM me. I know what happened to it.)
Here in my little laboratory/social club we can get to know each other the way our grandparents did. One manic ramble at a time.
“Here’s why I don’t believe in memory.”
“Here’s what I thought of Bottoms.”
“Here’s why I tag #polyamory on every video.”
“Here’s what starting one cult and being in another taught me about leadership.”
“Here’s a definitive ranking of every time I’ve gotten my ass kicked by how much it turned me on.”
Only after sitting through ALL THAT will I tell you about that thing I never got better from.
Some of these will be free, but the really personal stuff will cost money. That’s because even though I’ve been conditioned to believe that I owe everyone every part of myself forever for free, I know that’s not true. I owe everyone every part of myself forever for money. Paid subscribers will hear from me every week! Unpaid subscribers will hear from me at the same frequency that my parents do.
